Quick Backup Export?

Post by ekisner »

We recently had a ransomware attack, and thanks to Veeam we can limit our data loss to but a few hours.

In looking, I see that most files are unaffected, which means a mass roll-back of the server, or even any of the affected file shares is unwarranted. I'm going to notify my users of the ransomware attack, reassure them we have backups, and then restore the files as-needed (given that we've got files there that haven't even been accessed in over a decade). I want to make sure I preserve the restore point, which will get rolled out within the next few days.

We're using per-chain jobs, so if need-be I can just robocopy the chain, but I was wondering if a faster/more consistent way to export the "current state" as of that restore point existed. I don't want to use a backup copy job because the source backup job has 6 file servers in it. Suggestions?

These are the options that you have.

- Copy/paste existing backup chains manually
- Create a backup copy job and select the given backup jobs as its source
- VeeamZIP already restored VMs

Thanks.
