Quick Migration fails / Duplicate UUID?

Hello,

i have 3 ESXi cluster nodes with local attached datastores combined in one vCenter. They are licensed with vSphere Essentials and Veeam Backup Essentials for 2 Cores.

Is Quick Migration a free feature or do I have to license it?

When migrating vms from one esxi to another esxi migration often fails with the error message: "Failed to start the virtual machine". I believe the error is the same UUID of the vms. Is this even possible/supported to use Quick Migration in a vCenter cluster?

I already disabled the alarms on vCenter level:

Hi Hendrik,

You can use the Quick Migration feature with Veeam Essentials license, with no additional cost.
Do you have issues when migrating to/from a particular host? Does it happen with all VMs?
Also, duplicated UUID is not the reason of the error you got.

thanks for your input. It doesnt happen on all VMs. Is there anything I could additionally check before contacting the Veeam support?

Can you clarify if the hardware is the same on both hosts and what versions of the hypervisors?
The possible reasons I can suggest is VMs cannot get enough resources to fire up or incompatibility of hardware\software between hosts.

Hi,

the three hosts share almost equal hardware revisions and the same amount of RAM. They all use ESXi 6.0.
The host I'm trying to migrate to has only 5 vms already running.

Ok then I believe logs review by the support team should reveal the root cause of the issue.

Problem was different hardware revisions. I'm going to introduce EVC and hope this will solve the problem.
