Quick Migration with RDM
Hi,
I have a virtual file server, with 2 RDM disks (1,8 TB) in virtual mode, and 2 100GB virtual disks o to different data stores. I wood like to move all the files of this VM to a single data store using Quick Migration.
Now, I am not sure how veeam will act. Will the RDM Disks stay RDM disks, and just the pointer files are moved? Or will these disks bee converted to virtual disks?
(why I don't use vmotion? I just have an essentials license.)

Re: Quick Migration with RDM
Since replication jobs convert vRDMs to virtual disks, then Quick Migration should do the same, but I can double-check it with the devs tomorrow if you'd like.

Re: Quick Migration with RDM
ok. please check.
If it is as you think, is there a way to just move a single disk?

Re: Quick Migration with RDM
Just confirmed it with the R&D team - Quick migration (without vMotion) will convert this disk to regular virtual disk. If you want to preserve this disk type, you can possibly use Migrate -> Change Datastore Option in the vSphere Client.

Re: Quick Migration with RDM
In the datastore options, I can change the destination datastore, but not exclude a disc from relocation (exclusion of a dis wood be a nice feature!). I need to check if a file will remain unchanged if I select the same destination daterstore as source datastore.
I will report my results as soon as possible.

Already did that, and in my case virtual disk type has been changed to regular vmdk.

How about what? Could you elaborate on your question? Thanks!
