Re-Architect Veeam B&R with NetApp and vSphere 5.5
My current setup
Virtual Veeam Server with NetApp Snapdrive (6.4.0.5234) installed and LUNs added as direct storage
Windows 2008 R2 (all updated) using the Microsoft iSCSI initiator
NetApp FAS3270 (8.1.3 7-mode)
I run various backups on the Veeam server for hourly daily and weekly VM's. everything runs fine.
Things I want to accomplish
1. Have a Veeam Server at our DR site that can bring up the backups if needed
2. Improve performance if possible (times seem to be ok right now)
I want to make sure I have a copy of the backup data available at the DR site in case I ever need it. One way is I could SnapMirror the data across using the NetApp Utilities but with out a snapshot schedule I believe it is hard to mount the LUNs using snapdrive at the DR site, but I could be wrong.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thank You
Aaron

Not 100% certain what you're asking here, but what about using the "Backup Copy Job"? You didn't mention what version of Veeam B&R you're using, you must have v7 to get the Backup Copy feature (which is a great feature by the way). This will provide you a copy of your backups at the disaster recovery site, without interfering with your local backup regime.

1) save your veeam config to remote site (or locally and rsync it).
2) use copy backup job/2-d destination to copy backup files to the remote site.
3) keep a copy of the Veeam software available for installation at remote site.

Using the backup copu method I will need to map another LUN to the NetApp at the DR site I am guessing and add it as a repository. Is that correct?

This would work.
