really quick upgrade question
Hello. I'm upgrading Veeam B&R and when I get to the Service Account step (putting in creds), I try to use the service account that is running the Veeam backup service, but it keeps failing saying that "setup was unable to impersonate the user xxx\xxx". I have checked permissions and this account has local admin rights. If I use my privileged account (domain admin account) it takes it right away and moves on to the SQL setup step. Is this Service Account step just asking for an account that will install Veeam? Is there any reason not to use my privileged account here? Thanks. -OBD

Hi John,
Can you check the account has db_owner rights for the configuration database?
Please review this step-by-step guide in UG with the required rights and permissions. Thanks!

Re: really quick upgrade question
Thanks for the reply Dmitry. I have checked the guide and my account is all set...but still not working. Is there any reason why I can't just use my privileged account for this step, but then afterwards continue running Veeam under the service account as it currently is? Thanks. -OBD
I'm still looking into why it won't let me use the service account.

Re: really quick upgrade question
You can use your privileged account for the upgrade process.
I'd recommend you to contact the support team and let them find out the real cause of the issue with the service account. Thanks!
