The issue was never resolved and support only gave one unhelpful response. I don't beleive that even network mode should go that slowly.
I have had to run a full backup again and it has taken 2 days so far and crawled to what appears to be almost a complete stop. I am concerned that if support are disinterested in serious problems of this nature and the only real support is via the forums then it makes the product a much less viable solution than I previously thought.

Re: Really slow backups - Any suggestions?
Hello,
Thought I would post a follow-up to this now that it is resolved.
Support suggested that my backup target may be the problem and although I was not convinced I have done some testing and the iSCSI NAS that was in use was indeed the problem. Backing up to large local storage had no problems at all.
Backups are working fine now.
Paul

Hi Paul, thanks for taking time to update this topic with resolution. Can you please post iSCSI SAN make and model here, so that this comes up in search. Thanks!
