Realtime statistics show 0 KB/s since may update

Post by mkretzer »

Case 07280190

Since the May Update all realtime statistics show 0 KB/s. At first i thought this is a tape only issue but it happens with normal disk backups and copy jobs as well. Other than that backup jobs are running normally.

Anyone else with this issue?

Hello Markus,

I've seen this report once but we were not able to confirm it. Thank you for sharing the case ID, now I can pass the log details to our QA team!

Support just came back to me:
"I can see this is a known problem and currently our QA and RnD are workign towards finding a solution to this issue. As soon as I get some information from their side, I will let you know. "

Ok the fix destroyed our test system which we fortunately used -> Console comes up with "One or more critical product files have been modified. Please roll back the changes, or reinstall the product"

It seems you don't have a valid product license installed on your "test system". Hotfixes cannot be deployed to installations without a valid license with active support contract.

Oh i didn't know free edition cannot be used as a test system for such things. So we have to license a test system even when we do not realy back anything up? What is the best way to do this?
Do we have to purchase a seperate VUL for this? Do we have reinstall the test system?

Since it's for test only, I would not worry about this and just install your production license.

Nice. Now we just have to find a way to fix the Installation...

Done. Installed the license via Powershell - the error message is gone. Just a little strange that @Gostev know exactly whats up and support not really.
That's why i love this forum!

Probably only a few people at Veeam know this one :) it just happens to be one of the requirements I personally worked on as a PM some years ago.

Nice. But you could work on the error message - something like "don't use out patches without support contract!" at installation time ;-)

You are right. The original use case for the feature was to actually check the integrity of critical product files at start up. It was reused for support contract enforcement many years later... but the message was never updated.

Problem not solved at least for to-disk jobs. Veeam support seems to have ignored my comment that it happens not only for tape jobs!

FYI we finally got a working fix - it can be requested from support. It fixed for us:
- Realtime tape speed display
- Realtime disk/copy speed display
- Job objects display on the left side in tape backups (of our 25 job objects in one tape job only 2-3 were displayed before)

Hi Markus,

The mentioned fixes are merged to the 12.2 version so that should not be a problem any longer. Thank you!
