Recalculate replica compared to resync

Post by GabesVirtualWorld »

Hi

Is there a estimate on how much a calculate digest takes compared to a full replication IF THE BANDWITH is no issue? I'm seeing an almost 1 hr calculate on a 150GB VM before data is transfered and then it starts transfering the delta. I'm wondering if the only savings are bandwith but not resync time in total.

As far as I know it depends on many variables including disk size, bandwidth etc. There is a couple of existing topics when some customers did full job pass instead of waiting digest re-calculation operation to complete cause it was faster for them.

What resources should I throw at it to speed up the calculations? Bandwith is not the issues, since there is almost nothing being transported. More CPU or is it more GHz per CPU ? More Read IOPS?

Digest recalculation depends on the virtual disk size and the location of the proxy servers (based on all the topics I've seen so far in the public forums), however there was one case connected to the firewall settings.
