Recommended Transport mode

We just got Veeam and we're excited to implement it in our environment.

I have a question about which transport is recommended if the B&R server and proxy are VMs?

On the proxy I can setup iscsi access to the production LUNs to use Direct San Access.

Or

Use the appliance transport mode since the proxy is VM.

If you're using virtual proxy server, then I would go with hotadd backup mode. In case of FC connection, then physical proxy server and direct SAN access is recommended.
