From time to time I go through the installed applications on my workstation and clean up the crud that eventually accumulates. Last time I did this, I encountered a half dozen or so Veeam backup console plugins we don't use and aren't going to be using in the near future (or in the case of Oracle, ever) so, like any good Windows user, I pitched them over the side along with other unwanted apps.
This morning I need the Veeam console and... WTF?
"Veeam Backup and Replication: Some backup console's plug-ins must be updated to the latest version."
No, VBR, I uninstalled those plug-ins because I don't need them. So I certainly don't want to install them. But the console won't launch without them.
Here's my beef: if the console needs those plugins to run then they aren't plugins. If they are plugins, the console should run just fine with only what's needed.
Either decouple the need for all plugins to be installed, or make the application monolithic and abandon the plugin concept. This is absurd.

Hi Mike,
If your backup server is only protecting vSphere or Hyper-V, I have good news.
Our upcoming version will introduce a new Web UI, and both vSphere and Hyper-V will be supported workloads in the initial release.
This means you’ll no longer have to deal with plugin updates for your backup console. Just use the Web UI for your daily work.
Other workloads will be added to our new Web UI over time as well.
Best,
Fabian

Yes, migration becomes available later.
But Web UI will be available for Backup Server on Windows as well.
No need to migrate to Linux for the new WebUI.
Best,
Fabian
