Renaming Jobs and Directories

Post by iburnell »

New to this Veeam so I will be posting a few articles - sorry !

Trying to cleanup job names and directories but can't pick renamed directory. Our convention is BTD - Server. So for example job mistakenly called BTC - Server
- Removed job BTC - Server from Configuration
- Change underlying directory name from BTC-Server to BTD-Server
- Rescan repository
- Job reappears fine. Go into it and change job name to BTD...
- BUT when I go into the MAP disk the only directory I see is BTC... i.e. is doesn't appear to reflect the change after rescanning repository

If I rerun the job it creates a NEW directory BTD_SERVER_1

How do I clean this up please?

Hi,
- Removed job BTC - Server from Configuration
- Change underlying directory name from BTC-Server to BTD-Server
- Rescan repository
- Job reappears fine. Go into it and change job name to BTD...
Would you elaborate on that, please? Have you created a new job manually, or it just reappeared after rescan? Are you sure you are talking about a Backup Job and not about Backups under the "Imported" tab?

Thanks

I followed KB https://www.veeam.com/kb2174

No didn't create new job

Went onto Backups/Disk, selected the job /right click remove from configuration
(BTW what is Disk - Imported?)

Then went to Infrastructure/Backup repositories selected my repository and did a rescan

I can see the jobs with the correct name but when I tried to remap under settings it would only see the "old" directory in my case called BTC

Then ran a backup job and it's now created a second directory _1

Just map the job to the "BTC" backups and it will store all subsequent backups into the "BTD" folder.

Thanks

Thanks - that was the kicker. You have to map backup to the OLD job name. I was assuming that the new (renamed) job name would appear.

Hi,

is there a plan to implement the functionality to rename the folder on the BR if you rename a job?
It would make a lot less confusion with housekeeping... :?

No short-term plans, as far as I know.

Hi,

:( so we have to do it manually... and then remap the backup...
I think we will survive...
