Replace Veeam Proxy Server
I am running Veeam B & R 8.0 Update 2 (8.0.0.2021) and want to replace a Veeam Proxy Server with a new server. The current vproxy server directly connects to the SAN through fiber channel and has its own local repository with Direct Attached Storage. The current server is running Server 2008. I have a new server that I plan to have Server 2012 installed and plan to directly attach the same local storage and fiber channel so all the data will be accessed and backups occur exactly like they are now (just with much more powerful hardware). Is there an easy way to do a "drop in" replacement like this?

Re: Replace Veeam Proxy Server
Hello Lance,
That`s pretty easy, you just need to add a new proxy server to the VBR and delete the old one. If you have jobs preset to explicitly use the old proxy, you need to change jobs` settings.
Thanks.

Re: Replace Veeam Proxy Server
So, if I change the job settings to point to the new server for proxy and repository settings then when the new job runs it will automatically find the backup files that are there?

Not really, if you want to change a target of the backup jobs too, you need to move backups to the new repository, rescan it and map each job to the repository.
The discussion about moving to a new repository is in this topic. Please take a look.
