replicaion vs backup job conflicts

Post by cos »

we are trying to replicate some of the VMs once an hour however every once in a while the replication job starts when the backup job is still in progress and vice versa

is there any way to make the replication and backup jobs aware of each other?

Provided the jobs are created on the same Veeam B&R instance, they will be aware of each other - the job that starts second will wait for the other one to complete and release the VM.

it seems like the backup jobs are not aware of the replication jobs because they start over them

Could you please be more specific on "start over them"? What happens exactly - do you mean when the backup job starts, the replication job is terminated?

the backup job starts, there is a snapshot created for the backup and then the replication job starts creating another snapshot of the same VM

If replication job starts while snapshot created by backup job is not committed, that's probably a bug. You better investigate it with Veeam support team.
