Replicating Bare Metal Backups with Veeam

Post by jtroll »

I have a couple of bare metal servers that I backup with a product called EaseUS, which is similar to Aronis. This allows me to do bare metal recovery from a single image file. I have the challenge of replicating these files to a remote site and I was wondering if Veeam could handle this without transferring all the files every time. For intance, I was thinking about building a Windows VM specifically as a repository for the bare metal backups. The bare metal backups run on a weekly basis so every Sunday morning a new full backup is created, and then incrementals are created daily. The big questions is if Veeam will be smart enough to realize that most of the bits are already at the destination site and only synchronize the changes in sort of a dedup scenario? Will Veeam analyze the contents of the data and be able to figure out that it's mostly the same data.

Yes, only changes will be transferred in this scenario.
