Replication Job from Backup Restore

Post by evovandor »

Sorry if this has been answered previously but I couldn't find any results in the FAQ or search.

In order to save bandwidth on the initial replication job of a VM could I have the VM already at the DR site for exampled restored from a backup job.

For example DR Site has VM A restored from a backup job and would like to just continue the incremental changes using replication from Primary Site. Would the replication job only do the differences or would it replicate the whole VM already again?

Hi Sean and welcome to the community!

You should use Replica Seeding that would allow you to minimize the amount of traffic on the initial run of the replication job.
When you start the replication job it should calculate digest (differences) between the production VM and the seed, then it will move changes being made to the VM. Thanks!
