Repository Storage suggestions

I was wondering if Veeam themselves would weigh in what the best storage is for their product, i am sure they get the chance to test with numerous vendors.
I will give a scenario so we don't get into want we need it for.

We are using DD860 for retention passed 5 days, so heavy duplication is not a necessity
something inexpensive and fast to re hydrate the data, as all customer normally want the days before data.
Will use Veeam for Dedupe, not the appliance
Trying to stay away from CIFS, prefer Iscsi NFS
Not sure if snapshots in the storage is possible as production storage is vnx
