Resetting CBT for VM
One of our clients VM backup would fail at 99 percent. The error would state "unable to read physical disk". Using KB article KB1113,"How to reset VMware Virtual Machine CBT" I was able to resolve the issue.

Thank you sharing the solution; highly appreciated. Though, it's first time I hear about such issue and the fact that CBT reset resolves it.
If I were you, I'd monitor the environment for some time to see whether the problem reoccurs and open a ticket in case it does.

Indeed, this situation is concerning and I would look closely at your client's environment, as something there might be falling apart there due to some corruption... this is definitely not normal, and any new issue that have never popped up here in the past many years is always concerning. Unless of course this is some new VMware bug that simply was not present in previous vSphere versions...
