Restore a Share to a new Volume
Hi,
I must change a NTFS Volume from MBR to GPT. For some unknown reason it wont work either out of WinPE or a 3rd partay Tool.
So I have backed up the whole NTFS Volume, create a new Volume with GPT and like to restore the previsioly saves Volume to the new one.
I will do a "Guest File restore". On the Volume are defined Shares. Are they restored too ?
Thanks !
Best regards
Volker

Hi,
If you're asking if this is possible to restore files/folders and their permissions that define access to the selected files, then you can certainly do it > Step 6. Finalize Restore
Thanks!

Vitaliy, this is clear to me, but what about the definition by a Share ?
E.G. C:\BlaBla\Input was defined as a Share named "Foobar". Will this be restored too ?

Since we are talking about restoring just files and their ACL, I guess you will need to re-define it.

E.G. C:\BlaBla\Input was defined as a Share named "Foobar".
I tryed to restore C:\BlaBla\Input. After this, the Sharedefinition was no more in place.

Got it, so I was right that it needs to be re-created. Thanks for the follow-up!

News? I thought that you already figured out that shares must be re-created after the restore.
