You can set this reg key for a higher timeout:

Key: InactiveFLRSessionTimeout
Type: dword
Value: 3600 (in seconds, default value 1800)

A service restart should not be necessary.

No, I don‘t expect so.
Upgrading is still a good idea, because it has fixes for other things. But not for the timeout.
