Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
Hi Foggy,
I only just saw this reply, didn't get a notification!
I can't remember now if this was from a storage snapshot or from a backup. However, I think it was from a storage snapshot as it was a big VM and taking a backup would have taken too long.
Would you be able to answer the questions I asked before?
Is there an offical ETA for this functionality to be fixed? Update 4?
Would Surebackup suffer the same issue with these VMs that have disks on multiple volumes?
If I asked Veeam B&R to do a full VM restore of the same VM, would it restore all the disks to all the volumes correctly?

Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
Hi, Chris. This limitation is only for Veeam Explorer for Storage Snapshots (VESS), so browsing and restoring from storage snapshots. Veeam Backup from Storage Snapshots never had this limitation, so all types of VM restore work fine as well. As far as VESS, we're planning to add support for multi-homed VMs in Update 4. Thanks!

Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
We are looking to move to a storage array that has snapshot integration with Veeam. From reading this post, it seems that backup from storage snapshots should work fine on VMs with files on multiple datastores, but restores have a limitation that will soon be corrected. Is that accurate? The systems we're looking at would allow us to consolidate heavily, and move VM files together with VM, but I wanted to make sure backup from snaps does work with VMs spread out like we currently have.

Yes, this is the accurate summary.

Is this still an issue?

Hi Nørgård, support for VMs having disks on multiple datastores was added in Veeam B&R 9.5 U4.

Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
Hello,
im testing storage level snapshot restore now using 9.5 U4b but still cannot figure this out.
I have a VM with the C drive on a datastore and the D drive on another. Snapshots are taken correctly, but every restore attempt i made only showed the C drive.
Am i missing something? is this a feature now or not?

Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
Hi David, is the second drive just a regular virtual disk, not one of the excluded types of disks? Also, mind other limitations mentioned there. Does application-aware image processing complete successfully during the job?

Re: Restore from NetApp Snapshot (Multi-Volume)
Turns out that if replication is set up (secondary nimble array) within the Veeam job, the second drive wouldnt mount.
If Nimble itself takes care of the replication everything works.
Thanks,
David
