Hello,
Due to some confusion over Instant Recovery one of my backup jobs was not able to complete (or get started for that matter). This didn't stop Veeam from purging the oldest vrb. I was told by support a while back that old restore points are only deleted after successful runs.
Why delete an old restore point if a job has completely failed?

Hi Chris,
Thanks!
Restore points can only be deleted if the backup chain meets your retention policy settings. How many successful restore points do you have and what are your current retention policy settings?cparker4486 wrote:This didn't stop Veeam from purging the oldest vrb.
Thanks!

Re: Restore point deleted but job failed
Hi Vitaliy,
The job should keep 5 (VBK + 4 VRB) but there are currently only 4 (VBK + 3 VRB). If I understand you, this is unexpected behavior and I should still have 5 restore points.

Yes, I would suggest reviewing your job log files with our support team.
