I’m thinking of using a 10 tb disk as a hardened linux repository for a backup copy job
the bcj would have 14rp / 4w / 6m
immutability 30 days
Considering the rp (vib)
even if the bcj would delete them after 14 days
the immutability check of the repository blocks them for 30 days
so I would have in the repository
30 rp (daily vib)
4 w
1 m
if I estimate
FULL 0.5
INCR 0.03
30 * 0.03 + 5 * 0.5 = 3,4 size of VM
but at this point why put 14 rp ?
logically it would be more correct to put 30 rp
(i.e. the value of immutability)
Correct ?

Re: Restore point on hardening repository
Hello,
yes, the days / restore points need to be at least 30. Otherwise you get permanent warnings that retention could not be applied.
Please keep in mind that GFS restore points are protected for the full retention. So probably 30 days is unnecessary.
Best regards,
Hannes
