Restore to Different User
A user needs to transfer a huge amount of Exchange email folders to a different user, my thought is to use the latest backup, then restore the folders to a different users mailbox. Is this possible? I know I could save it as a .pst then import into the new user, I was just wondering if there was a mechanism or a way to do this with VBR so I don't have to contact the end users. I have done plenty of restores back to original locations, but never do a different user. Thanks for any insight!
Cheers

Ryan, yes, this is possible. Provided you have sufficient rights, you can restore items/folders to any mailbox on the server (just specify the target mailbox in the restore wizard). Thanks.

Re: Restore to Different User
Thanks foggy,
I am running a quick backup to get the most current, then I will try the restore. I figured it was possible but I wanted to check.
Cheers!

Re: Restore to Different User
So I am trying the restore and it does not work. It says a possible permissions issue, but I tried using the account that took the backup and that didn't work, so I tried to domain admin account and that didn't work. The domain admin account has all the permissions but it still fails. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Restore to Different User
Vladimir,
Thank you for the reply, before I left for the weekend I set my admin account to Full Access on the destination mailbox in Exchange. When I retried this morning it worked without issue.

Re: Restore to Different User
Right, to be able to perform such restores, you need to grant administrator account full mailbox access rights on Exchange server.

Re: Restore to Different User
Alexander,
I think the permissions did not propagate very quickly and once I waited it worked without issue.
