Restore VBR VM to physical
Hi everyone,
is there a way to use VBR VMware VM backups to restore them to a physical server, maybe with using the recovery.iso the Agent provides?
This might also be interesting to use to restore VM data to cloud providers like Google or others for which a integration like "Restore to Azure" or "Restore to EC2" is not available yet.
Thanks in advance

Hello redfasdfasf,
No, Veeam Agents cannot work with backup files created by vm backup jobs. To clarify: you are asking for a way to migrate your VMware virtual machine to any public cloud, right? Thanks!

Re: Restore VBR VM to physical
Hi Dmitry,
yes, I would like to use a VBR based VM backup to restore it to a generic public cloud provider that is not Azure or AWS. It would not be a problem to use the agents recovery.iso, but since the VBR backups for the environment already exist, the workaround to use the agent would lead to additional effort and licensing costs.
Thanks

Re: Restore VBR VM to physical
- Some service providers has an import virtual disk service, where you feed them with virtual disk of your own VMware vSphere(vmdk)\Microsoft Hyper-V(vhdx) and create a virtual machine in their cloud with it. Maybe that could be an option? VBR can export VMDK\VHDX over.
- like every service provider should have "Migrate from Azure to [SP Name]" or "Migrate from Amazon to [SP Name]" option and Veeam can restore from backup to those clouds...
/Cheers!
