restore vmdk to another vm
After restoring the VMDK to another VM, the VM can't be started up. VMware 1st ask me to confirm to replace the disk with same UUID.I choose the answer yes. And then the VM (windows 2008r2) with an additional restore VMDK could not be started up. What's the reason behind ? provided that veeam has shown successful restore

Re: restore vmdk to another vm
Hi Charles,
What error message do you see in vSphere Client for this VM? Btw, do you have any snapshots on the VM you're trying to attach this disk to?
Thanks!

Re: restore vmdk to another vm
According to this VMware KB article, you might experience some kind of boot problem when you try to attach the restore virtual disk to a virtual machine that already has an exact copy of it (same UUID).
Generally, it’s recommended that you attach the disk to the virtual machine by using a different physical ID.
Thanks.
