Restored VM missing users
My support request is 5210502. I restored a vm (didn't enable the network card on it as the original machine is still running), when I look at the local users on the live machine there are a bunch of users that were given local rights - however when I look at the restored vm's users some of those domain users are missing. Anyone seen this before?
Many Thanks!
Many Thanks!

Never seen this before.
Are they completely missing? Or do you just see the SID?
Maybe some of your users are pulled over policies to your server. And since you dont have a network connection to your domain they are missing?
Do you have a virtual DC / DHCP / DNS? If so then i would try to start these servers all together in a virtual lab and see what happens.

Re: Restored VM missing users
Thanks for getting back - I'm going to go back to the end user to see if there are dependencies on other machines. The users are totally missing.
Andrei in support suggested trying SureBackup and the sandbox feature - so I might give that a go too.

Interesting one. I have absolutely no idea how users can go missing, considering we restore the VM as it was backed up (bit by bit), and all the information on the local users is stored in the VM disks as well... so, not sure how can they go missing?

Just tried it here. Users or groups are not completely missing but as no domain controller is available i can only see the SIDs. You should really give SureBackup a try.

Yep, that is exactly the behavior I would expect.Cokovic wrote:as no domain controller is available i can only see the SIDs
