Restoring old backups
Just want to confirm something,
Our reversed inc daily jobs are set to 2 backup retention and we copy the three files, vrb, vbm and vbk files to a different external harddisk on a daily basis.
In the event that I need to go back to a backup several weeks ago, e.g. an exchange mailbox item or single file restore, would I re-import the job off the HD and veeam see it as a completely different job?
Just want to make sure what I'm doing is feasible
Thanks

Hello Mark,
Yes, what you are doing is feasible. You can read here how to restore VM files or perform full VM restore for VMware.
Thank you.

Re: Restoring old backups
The key thing here is not restoring via the current reverse/full because I know I can do this because I have triednshestakov wrote:Hello Mark,

It's when we attach an historical HDD from, whether from five days ago to 12 months etc using historical jobs and files. Would I simply re-import the jobs to show old incremental/full?
Does that make sense?

Re: Restoring old backups
You do not re-import jobs, you can only re-import backups. Once you do this, the entire backup chain will be available in the Veeam backup console in the "Imported" backups node. It's when we attach an historical HDD from, whether from five days ago to 12 months etc using historical jobs and files.
