Hi,
Please can you advise me? We backup an Oracle database using the Veeam RMAN plug-in to an FC Connected HPE Storeonce Catalyst store. We now want to restore a database to a different server in a different subnet. The subnets are separated via a firewall. To restore via the firewall takes too long. Is it possible with Veeam to install a second FC Connected proxy server in the same subnet as the restore target server, and restore from the FC Catalyst store where the backup resides using Oracle RMAN via the RMAN plug-in on the new target server?
Alternatively if we connect the HPE Storeonce into the second subnet and use a second proxy server would we be able tor restore from the FC Catalyst store where the backup resides using Oracle RMAN via the RMAN plug-in on the new target server?
I really appreciate any advice.

Re: Restoring Oracle database - Veeam Multiple proxy serverss
Hi Andrew,
Technically, both of your ideas can work. I recommend the first option because the second one goes against our best practices for network zones segmentation: the repository should reside in the restricted zone while a proxy server can be easily deployed in the trusted zone, look at the diagram on this page.
Also, maybe it's worth checking whether your firewall provides QOS and adjusting settings accordingly, sometimes it helps to speed up data processing over network.
Thanks!

Thank you for your response Petr,
Is the first option supported under Veeam 11? Is there perhaps a document/reference on how to set it up?

Hi Andrew,
Multiple gateway servers support is available starting from version 12. There are instructions for a gateway server selection in our user guide.
Thanks!
