Hi,
we are using Guest File indexing on a few backup jobs. We have a retention of 30 restorepoints configured on the backup jobs and a retention of 1 month configured for the guest file index. But we are also using copy jobs with a retention of 60 days for the daily backups and a retention of 1 year for the monthly backups, made with GFS . Do we need to configure a retention of 12 months for the guest file index to use the index also for the copy jobs? With this retention, will we have all 365 restorepoints in the index or is the guest file indexing GFS aware and keeps only the monthy backups in the indexa?
Thanks
Regards,
Andreas

Re: Retention of Guest File index with Copy jobs
Hi, Andreas, index files of all available backups (those that currently exist in backup repositories) are always preserved. Retention setting in Enterprise Manager applies to index files of archived backups, that, for example, go tape/offsite and no longer present in the repository. (This setting is available only in Enterprise editions of Veeam B&R.)
