Relative newbie with Veeam so be gentle
I have a 3 host Hyper-V site with Veeam as a VM
Local repository is a Synology NAS connected via iSCSI and formatted as ReFS.
I've also got a Veeam Cloud Connect repository setup with ILAND
Everything works great - backup jobs locally and the backup copy job via VCC.
What I'm trying to get my head around is the retention periods and how to make sure I'm doing what I think I'm doing.
What I want to do is:
Locally:
Each VM backed up with 4 weeks of daily recovery points, and then a weekly recovery point for 6 months and a yearly recovery point for held for 2 years
VCC
Each VM - A weekly recovery point for 4 weeks.
I've currently pretty much taken the defaults, apart from the copy job which I've set to run once per week on a Friday night.
You seem to be able to set restore points on the jobs and also retention of the repositories so I'm a little confused as to what to select where
I'm sure this is simple!
Also the configuration backup, what is the best practice here?
Cheers

Re: Retention Periods / Recovery Point Options
Currently there's no ability to have GFS retention in regular backup jobs, it is only available for the backup copy jobs. If you want to have weeklies/monthlies/etc. locally, consider creating another local backup copy job. Thanks!
