Retention Policy being ignored
Hello all.
I have one backup job that for some reason has started ignoring the retention policy. The VM is our Exchange server, and the restore points to keep on disk is set to 3. This has always worked fine, but now seems to get ignored. Today I have 24 restore points. Obviously this is causing on issue with disk space on the backup storage device.
I tried deleting all the backups and doing an Active Full, but the problem persists. What would cause this?
Version: 7.0.0.871
Thanks!
Matt

Matthew, are you using forward incremental mode? Check whether periodic fulls are performed on schedule.

Hi Foggy.
This is a forward incremental, with synthetic fulls set to run on Saturdays. However, looking at the actual backups, there is a vbk file from 10/13, but that is the only one. But why wouldn't they be running, when they previously were?

Most likely the job actually starts on Sunday. Is it chained with another job by any chance?

No it is not. I have not tried to delete and recreate the job yet. I may try it just to see.

Re: Retention Policy being ignored
Matthew, such guessing through the forum posts is extremely inefficient, I recommend you open a support case to let our engineers look at your setup and job settings - and debug logs if needed (something is clearly wrong if you only see a single VBK). Thanks!
