Hi samannnn, welcome to the forums.

Based on your screenshot, looks like you are using the Forward Incremental retention policy, where periodic full backups are created. The retention will require that the active chain(s) (current Full backup + increments) meet the retention policy (12 restore points) first before retention is applied, as shown in the animations in this kb: https://www.veeam.com/kb1799

You can use the Veeam Calculators here to get a representation of what will be on the repository after retention applies, but in effect, once the next Full backup is made and the active chain reaches 12 points, the previous points will be removed by retention.

If your repository supports Fast Clone, consider more frequent synthetic full backups as with Fast Clone, the Synthetic Fulls are "spaceless".

thanks David,

as you describe, i set active full backup first Friday of month. after that Veaam wait for an active full backup, 12 new restore point and after that it will be keep new full backup and 12 new restore point and delete old backups?

i change setting to this:
set retention policy to 7 and active full backup every Friday of week.

this setting in the first week, get an active full backup on Friday, 6 incremental on Saturday to Thursday, second week get 1 full backup on Friday and 6 incremental on Saturday to Thursday. ok? restore point reach to 7, it will be keep 2 week full backup and incremental and delete all old restore point and full.
am i right?

Correct.

>this setting in the first week, get an active full backup on Friday, 6 incremental on Saturday to Thursday, second week get 1 full backup on Friday and 6 incremental on Saturday to Thursday. ok? restore point reach to 7, it will be keep 2 week full backup and incremental and delete all old restore point and full.

Partially correct.

In your current setup, once the last increment on the green part is made, that full + the increments (green) meet your retention policy, so the older chain (red) can be removed by retention. This is described in the animations KB link I provided earlier and that may help you visualize it better.

p.s. - for inlining images, you need a direct link to the actual image (with .png or .jpeg) -- so simply get the actual image link by right clicking the image after you upload it to a hosting service, and that link with the .png/.jpeg extension is what you will add to your post.
