Retries count as additional backups for retention?

Post by averylarry »

Is that correct? It sure looks like that when I look at the .vib and .vrb files. Another reason I would prefer at least the option of retention by time (ex. keep a minimum of 20 days of backups) instead of # of backup.

Never mind. I must have run a couple of manual extra backups somewhere to mess up my timeline. It appears that retries are added to the existing .vib or .vrb files as I would expect.

That's correct. Retries are not treated as additional restore points. You may want to check out backup sessions history for additional info on those restore points you have.
