Reverse Incremental Fragmented?

Post by manuel.wagner »

Hy Guys.

Since upgrading to Veeam B&R v8, my Backup Job to NAS is very slow (8-10 MB/S). And I am sure that the first backup after upgrading had this problem.
Now i installed the whole machine new, created a new Job and mapped the old backup.
Same problems again.

The Job was a Reverse Incremental. During the Backup Job, i found out that our NAS was really busy. No other data transfer was possible (at normal speeds).
Now i created a new Incremental Backup Job -> now i have processing speeds about 100-110MB/S -> over 10 times faster! :D

Is it possible, that the old Reverse Incremental Backup is extreme fragmented?
Is there a way to defragment it? (like the option in the backup copy jobs)
Or do you think that there's an other problem happening?

Greets,
Manuel

Hi, Manuel. The issue here is definitely fragmentation. Currently, the only way to reduce it is to perform an Active Full backup. Thanks!

OK.
Now the next problem -> I kept the new Backup Job and i will delete the old repository.
My Backup Copy Job to my Cloud Connect Server says:
Waiting for new restore points -->
09.01.2015 23:55:22 :: Source backup file has different block size. Expected block size: 512, actual: ([backup name: Verag Backup Job - NEW FULL, block size: 1024])

Do i have to create a new copy job? Or is there a way to solve/"convert" Problem at the Cloud Server?

Ok found the problem -> Local Target, LAN Target Settings....
But is there a way to "convert" the backup on the cloud server?

What do you mean by "converting" the backup file?

If possible, please don't mix unrelated questions into the same topic.

Ok sorry, next time!

The Copy Job says, that there is a different blocksize, between source backup and my cloud backup.
And I think it is because i changed LAN Target to Local Target at the Backup Job.

And now my question -> Do I have to create a new Copy Job or is it enough when i change to LAN Target back? Or can i change blocksize of the backup at the cloud server?

New storage optimization settings will be applied after you run active full backup > Changing Storage Optimization
