Hi,
we want to transfer our reversed incr. backups to tape. Since the vbk files are quite large and we use only LTO3 tapes, copy to tape will take a significant amount of time.
We make reversed incr. backups every day and it could be possible that the backup solution we use to copy the files to tape (HP Dataprotector) will not have finished until the next Veeam run starts. What exactly happens in such a case? Will the Veeam job simply fail because the vbk is in use by DP or will the copy to tape job fail becasue the vbk file changes since start of the backup? Anyone ever had such a problem?
I know I can lock files in DP during backup but this will probably crash my Veeam backup and vice versa.
Thanks for your help,
Oliver

Re: Reversed Incr. backup while copy to tape is running
Oliver, in this case Veeam job will fail once the files are locked by the tape job. To get around this, you might create batch file to start the tape backup and specify it in the "Post job activity" section of the Veeam job.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Reversed Incr. backup while copy to tape is running
I would recommend switching to forward incremental backup mode, which is optimized for tapes integration. In this case it would take you less time to offload backup files to tape, thus meaning there would be no more overlaps.
