RMAN Oracle question

Post by GoranK »

Hi,

A quick question for you who backup your Oracle databases with Veeam and using RMAN scripts (we use it because we have Oracle RAC which Veeam doesn't support).
We have today another backup software that schedules the RMAN scripts. We plan to use Veeam instead and the only way we can execute the RMAN scripts on the client is through pre or post scripts, right?
But since there are timeouts associated with these and the default is 600 seconds i guess this needs to be increased? How much headroom do you have in your environment? We have 50-100GB databases which take about an hour to backup, so I'm thinking 7200 seconds (2 hours) for the timeout. Any other suggestions?
