Hello.
We have many Ubuntu Hardened repos out there, and they have all been solid over the years. We have recently deployed a couple Rocky Linux boxes and those work well too. Right now, Rocky is at 9.6. Do we need to worry about the rolling upgrade cadence with Rocky and the continued Veeam support or should we be holding back upgrades to make sure they are supported by Rocky? With Ubuntu, we could stay within the specific LTS and get security updates, etc and be sure it is supported by veeam since it is documented to be supported. But with Rocky it seems like the support is 9.2-9.5. And when you upgrade Rocky it does a full upgrade and not just security updates and that is currently 9.6.
We just did an upgrade on one of our repos to 9.6 and are now concerned it is outside the supported hardened repo OS's. I suppose we should have run sudo dnf upgrade --security, but we did not. With Rocky, what is the best way to keep Linux up to date with the latest security updates but within the Veeam support window?
Thanks for any feedback.
Dave

Re: Rocky Linux - Continued support
Hi Dave
Where did you saw that we support Rocky 9.5 as latest version? Can you provide me with a link? It may be outdated information.
Because Rocky 9.6 is supported for backup repositories with the latest version of Veeam Backup & Replication.
Our general goal is to support new versions of existing operating systems within 90 days of GA date. I recommend to always check supported version before running an upgrade of the operating system.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Rocky Linux - Continued support
Hello Fabian...My apologies and my mistake. I was looking at a NON veeam site with old information for an old release. So sorry, and thanks for the confirmation.
We prefer Rocky at this point over Ubuntu.
Thanks again for the great support as usual.
