Post by itpau »

Hello,

I try to understand how works restore points.

I set up 4 restore points on a Job who backup one Virtual Machine.
Job run every hours. It ran all the day, and now I have 12 restore points on my repo for this Job.

How it works ? I don't understand why veeam doesn't delete restore points that I don't want.

Any ideas ?

Hi,

The length of the backup chain depends on the backup method you're using.
Which backup method you've chosen for the job? Thanks!

Hi,

I use this method : Forward Incremental Backup

I made some tests and if I set 5 restore points it delete old restore points to the tenth.

That is how it works. Please check this kb for more information about retention polices.

If you have any questions left, let me know.
