Running a daily incremental and a monthly at the same time. Is it possible?

Post by Tjenkins92 »

We currently only run forward incremental backups daily. So we do a full on Saturday and incremental the rest of the week. We want to start to do monthly backups as well. The issue is there is only a certain time slot where we can run backup jobs so i'm pretty sure there will be overlap. Is it even possible to run an incremental and full for the same vm at the same time? If not what is the best way to get around this?

Veeam and the scheduling should take care about this. At same time is maybe not the best case, but you can start the monthly jobs potentially an half hour later.
If you have enough proxy and repository resources (task slots) then these jobs can overlap.

Anyway I would not do it that way. We have a Backup Copy Job and you can create GFS (Grandfather/Father/Son) chains there. So you can keep the monthly backups there without the need to do 2 backups in the backup window.
