SAN Backup in 4.1 question

Post by Liberty4All »

As I am looking at the user guide for (Veeam 4.1) I am trying to confirm that I will be able to do SAN based backups without using VCB. It looks like I can from the diagram, but I want to be sure. My veeam backup server would not be a VM.

So the question is - Can I do SAN based backups without VCB from a windows 2003 physical server? If I need VCB will there be a way to do this when VCB is not included in the next release? Thank you,

Paul

Hello Paul. Yes, you can do SAN based backups without VCB from a Windows 2003 physical server with our product today. Depending on how fast your SAN is, I recommend that you use physical computer with quad-core CPU for fast processing speed. Thanks!

Thank you for the reply. We are using two quad-core CPU's with best compression currently because it is faster than optimal for us.
