SAP HANA HDB Backint log

Post by Juliaaa »

Dear experts,

I have following question.

I've installed Veeam agent / adapter on a HANA HDB Server, configured it that logs will be logged via Backint on an additional backup server. Up to this point it works just as desired.

When I open the SAP HANA Studio -> Backup Catalog.
In chapter "Show Log Backups", the Backint files are as desired a few mb large. But after each backint logging, the HANA HDB creates a small (8Byte) log with the destination type "File".
What kind of file is this, and what purpose has it?

Thank you in advance.

Regards
Julia

Hi there,

this involves some guessing....but i would say you see the catalog backup going to disc.
You can quite easily see this inside HANA studio -> Backup Catalog -> click on the backup entry.
It should show you the Source type and i (still) guess it will be catalog.

You can change this quite easily within the global.ini -> Backup section -> catalog_backup_using_backint -> default is false (write to disk). Change this value to true.

Hope this helps

Hi Clemens,

You're right, I need to change the default value to "true" within global.ini.
I found this SNOTE: 2707320 - HANA log backup is performed to both backint and file

Thanks :)
