SAP HANA Veeam Plugin repository

Post by mirfan »

Hi,

I'm new in veeam sap hana plugin. using Veeam Backup & replication version 10
When we run backups for systems or tenant databases, is it possible to point them into several different folders in one repository?

No, each Client will write through a job object into a single folder.

Can you please give us some additional context why you ask for it?

Thanks. The force delete operation was not planned to handle retention. It is a way to delete obsolet data that do not live in a Hana Backup Catalog anymore.
For example when you drop a database from SAP HANA.
In case of retention processing use all available standard methods within HANA.
There is I think even now latest Cockpit version that can do this for you.

More details
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100

Force Delete (Garbage Collection) should be set to one day higher than you longest retention.

Is it when we use hana cockpit to do the retention will also delete data in veeam repository?
since we don't have hana cockpit, is there any other way to do the retention?

Please see the first and last documented option in the link provided above.

The force delete option is as well at no good use as it will not update the SAP Hana Catalog when it deletes backups. That way you would fill the Backup Catalog more and more with useless data.

No, just the backups, but it will modify the vbm file to delete the references to the backup file and as well remove the information about them from our database.

It will NOT update the Backup Catalog within HANA.
