scale-out backup repository

Dear all
Hi

i read about scale-out backup repository i veeam user guide document but know i want to know i understand:
scale-out backup repository is such as pool repository that we can add all of backup repository in that and in backup job we can select this scale-out repository and it will automatically choose one of repository from scale-out repository and save backups on that

is that correct ??

That is correct. The extent to place the particular backup on will be selected according to the scale-out repository policy you configure while creating it.

can it do such as a cluster for example when add 5 repository to scale-out repository can it detect for example my repository1 space is not enough but my repository2 has more free space and put backup on repository2 ???

Yes. You can read more about backup placement policies in the corresponding user guide section.

this scale-out repository function is such as SDRS in vCenter ??????

It doesn't relocate existing backups automatically based on extents' space utilization, so the comparison is not that fair.

but i read scale-out documents and not clearly say how can help me now have 2 question :

1- when i have 5 repository on my scale-out repository will that automatically copy all of backups on that repository that have more free space ??
2 - can you say me some benefit of use scale-out repository ????

1. Amount of free space is not the only criteria for extent selection. The full algorithm is outlined on the page I've referenced to above. And as I've mentioned, backups are not copied between extents.

2. Basically, it allows to combine several repositories of different types (dedupe, CIFS, DAS, whatever) into a single repository with the ability to expand it at any moment further. More on its benefits here.

dear friend
i said you read that documents but clearly not answer my questions :

1 - i have added 5 repository to my scale-out backup repository now when i start new backup job it can understand repository2 has more than free space from repository3 will that do save my new job backups on repository2 ???????

In case of the initial job run and provided there are enough free task slots on the particular extent, yes, the backup will be placed to the extent with the most amount of free space.
