schedule job to run after previous job is in Merge stage

Post by zlobnyfar »

Hello VEEAM!

Is it possible to request feature which allow us to schedule job to run after previous job turned into Merge mode? It will save a lot of time and allow us to accommodate more jobs during backup window.

Thanks, Ilyas.

Hi Ilyas, am I getting right, you're currently using jobs chaining (so that the next one starts after the previous job is complete)? What is the reasoning behind this, since we actually do not recommend doing so and use automatic resource scheduling instead?

My problem with stacking all of the jobs, is the duration counter for a job no longer reflects how long that job actually took to process, because several VMs may be waiting hours for resources, so the job looks like it took 5 hours to run, when it was actually only 30 min of actual processing time.

It also creates unpredictability in the actual time window a VM is being backed up. If a user reports they have a regular issue with performance at 10:00 - 10:30 and we have a backup running at that time, it is easier to correlate, than telling them that sometime between 7:00 pm and 1:00 am, your VM may be backed up.
