Scheduled Job failed but i works if executed from interface
Hi all,
I'm testing Veeam Backup 3.1. My environment is:
- 2 esxi 3.5 hosts with 4 VMs each
- one of the VM is a windows xp machine with veeam on it
- a smb network share accessible by at \\storage\store\
Backup jobs are executed in network mode. If I try to run them in interactive mode everything is ok, but when they run scheduled everyone of them fails. This is the error I receive:
Deleting the whole list of backups Delete backup "Server04" machine was unsuccessful
Undir failed Client error: boost::filesystem::exists: Access denied: "\\Storage\store\Server42009-07-17T095055.vrb"
VeeamFSstorage cannot be opened. Storage: [\\Storage\store\Server42009-07-17T095055.vrb]. Read-only mode: [false].
Cannot handle [undir] command. VBK: [\\Storage\store\Server42009-07-17T095055.vrb]. Patch: [].
I've checked all the permissions on the network share and there is no problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Luca Dell'Oca.

Hello Luca,
When you shedule your jobs, they run under service account, which can be found at "Services->Veeam Backup and FastSCP service->Logon info". Please check that the stated user has enough permissions to that network share. Hope it helps.
Thank you.

Hi,
the service account is the Domain Administrator, and this user is also able to open the network share with read and write permissions. I've tried to open the share with the unc path from the Run box, and it opens ok.
Thanks,
Luca.

Re: Scheduled Job failed but i works if executed from interface
Luca, when job is run interactively, it is running under your account's security context. And when it is scheduled, it runs under the service account's context. So if it works in one case, but does not work in another - then something is different in security between the two accounts, your personal and one specified for the Veeam Backup service. Try logging on to Veeam Backup server using service account credentials, and starting the job with UI - and see if it will work? I expect it to fail.
