seed based on a vbk file

Post by lowlander »

Hi,

short question.

copied a .VBK file (reversed incremental generated) from site A to site B.

I am aware of the helpcenter description of seeding, however I cant find a method by using the full backup as a "seed" for the copy job.

thanks !

The procedure is actually the same as you would do for the regular backup job. Here's a more detailed description and another existing forum thread. The only issue here is that you cannot map to reverse incremental chain and you cannot map to a single full taken out of the chain that has subsequent increments, since you also need VBM file for mapping and this file contains information about the entire chain. So you need to create another single full backup from the file you've copied using it as a source for the temporary backup copy job and then use it to seed the remote backup copy job from site A.
