Seeding a backup copy Job
Hi All,
I'm using Veeam B&R 9.5 and attempting to create a Backup copy job to an offsite location starting with a seeded repository.
I have copied the repository files to the offiste location, added the remote repository to Veeam and selected import existing backups. This completes successfully.
However, when I create a Backup Copy Job, under target, when I select the remote repository and click map backup - No backups are listed.
I have tried to rescan the repository / delete and re-add the repository, but still no luck.
On the backup copy job, I have tried different combinations for Source repository and VMs / backups jobs.
I feel like I must be missing something simple - Can anyone offer any guidance?
Thanks!

Re: Seeding a backup copy Job
Hi and welcome to the community!
You don't need to import those seeded backups, rescan should be sufficient, also keep in mind that you can map copy jobs only to backups created by incremental backup method and the backup shouldn't be encrypted.
Please review this step by step guide about creating seed for the backup copy job. Thanks!

Did you copy VBM file along with the backup chain itself?

After much hair pulling, the solution was simple..
The backups were encrypted. I need to type in the encryption password...

Re: Seeding a backup copy Job
Hi All
I have a incremental backup job (not backup copy job). Then, I copied files from local repo - incremental backup job (vbk, vib and vbm) to a USB and transfer to remote site.
I have copied to remote site repo and rescan repository. It's appearing under Backup > Disk (imported) for remote site.
However, whenever i create a new backup copy job, I cannot see this backup appearing under 'Map backup' as the files that I copied over are not for backup copy job.
Is there a way to seed and create a new backup copy job, by using backup file files?

Have you checked these prerequisites? Are any of those applicable to your scenario? Thanks!

Hi veremin
I managed to 'map backup', as look like it's compulsory to use copy mode 'Periodic copy' instead 'Immediate copy' for my case.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Seeding a backup copy Job
Correct, if you are trying to map a backup copy job to the files created by another backup copy job, the copy mode for both jobs must be the same. Glad to hear we have clarified your confusion, should other help be needed, don't hesitate to let us know.
Thanks!
Thanks!
