Seeding Copy/Replication

Post by JoeO »

Hi, i've got two quick questions.

1. Im currently running an initial "backup copy" job to my to-be DR Nas. The Nas currently resides in the production site. Once completed, i'll ship it off to the DR site. I assume i will have to remove and recreate the job and repository. When recreating the "backup copy" job, i will choose "Map Backup". Will this resume the jobs from where it left off. To rephrase, is this the (or a) proper method of seeding a backup copy?

2. Can i use the "backup copy" repository data, as a the initial seeding for a replication job, or does it have to come from an actual backup job?

1. No need to remove anything, you can assign repository role to location backup data will be moved to, and, then, just change the target repository in the settings of backup copy.
2. Either backup or backup job is supported.

Thanks.
