Seeding New Backup Repository

Post by Technogod »

I had seeded a new Backup Repository years ago but when I tried again recently, I failed. I thought it had something to do with the B&R Ver. 12 Upgrade. My Hard Drive was failing so I was forced to try again. This time I was successful. Here are the steps involved. I was unable to find a proper procedure online. I had performed Backup Copy Jobs until I was able to find time to replace the failing Hard Drive on the Remote Server.

1) Disable all Backup Copy Jobs on Hard Drive that is being moved to the Remote Server.

2) Remove Hard Drive from Local Server.

3) Delete Backup Copy Jobs from Local Server.

4) Delete Repository from Local Server.

5) Install Hard Drive on Remote Server.

6) Create Repository on Remote Server pointing to Backup directory.

7) Add newly created Repository to the Local Server.

8)Rescan Repositories on both Servers.

9) Backup Copy Jobs were Encrypted. Specify password for all Backup Copy Jobs on Local Server.

10) Recreate Backup Copy Jobs on Local Server and Map them to Remote Server.
