Re: Select VM backup order
A rather old discussion, but I`ll post a reply anyway - maybe it`s someone out there who benefits of my suggestion underneath after all. =)
I too can see the meaning in beeing able to choose the order of the backups, even though I don`t currently need it in any customers backup-window.
But wouldn`t a possible workaround for the above problem be to just put each group of servers or distinct server that you want to run in a specific order in different jobs. Then just use the "post-job activity"-setting in these jobs to call on the next group/server? (by using the command-line supplied by the summary-page?)
E.g. "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup and Replication\Veeam.Backup.Manager.exe" backup 8dce3a19-556a-41f3-a0ec-573228a15ea4
...just an awkward way of solving the problem that I think that i would try if I found myself in the situation.
Thanks for your time

Re: Select VM backup order
Because we shouldn't have to give up the benefits of deduplication to achieve something as simple as this , which every other product can do

Not every other product does deduplication though

influencing which machine is processed first in a backup job
[merged]
Hello to all.
I'm having an issue with my backup schedule.
We're running 2 backup solutions: Veeam to backup the virtual machines and Symantec Backup Exec to backup the exchange single mailboxes and to transfer everything to tape.
The issue I have now is that sometimes Veeam and Symantec are trying to backup the Exchange server at the same time. Since both are using VSS I'm getting warnings every 2nd day about VSS which is not available.
I've noticed that the backup of our Exchange server in Veeam in not performed at the same time every day, it changes from day to day.
Is there a way to influence which machine is backupped first in a Veeam job, this would make it possible for me to schedule both backups around each other
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Select VM backup order
Simon, this feature (selecting VM backup order) is scheduled to the next major release.

Re: Select VM backup order
Although I am pretty happy with Veeam Backup - Its disappointing to see that Veeam is rolling out support for Hyper-V when the VMware version 5 still needs such a basic feature.

Re: Select VM backup order
Maybe because people who buy Veeam (because of the features it has now) still buy it even without the VM order feature.
Releasing Veeam for Hyper-V increases revenue but adding VM order feature probably not or only marginal.

replicated not by alphabetical order
[merged]
How can change the order of the server in the veeam replica job?
The machines are also replicated not by alphabetical order, why not?

Re: replicated not by alphabetical order
Currently you cannot specify VMs order in the backup/replication job, our next version (v6) will have this feature though.
